Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; 

Are you an enthusiastic, committed Paediatric Nurse looking for a new challenge and passionate about being a leader?

Then why not come and join our dedicated team, We are currently looking for a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our friendly, dynamic team on Dolphin Ward and Paediatric Critical Care Unit.

Dolphin ward is a 12 bedded ward that cares for children under 5 years of age with a variety of acute medical and surgical conditions as well as children with long term conditions.  Attached to Dolphin ward is a 4 bedded Paediatric Critical Care Unit.  Children from 0 – 18 years of age are cared for on the unit.  The Unit is defined as a level 2 critical care unit and the post holder will support staff working in this area as well as on the ward side.

We work closely with our lead centred to enable our child and young people to be nursed closer to home.  We liaise with community services both locally and within the East Midlands to facilitate transitional discharge from hospital to home particular with children who have a long term conditions including long term ventilation.

We take pride in our services and strive to ensure we are evident based and up to date with the care we provide to continue to support our children and young people to be closer to home and to integrate into their local community.

The band 6 junior sister / charge nurse role will provide leadership and management support to the Senior Sister and ward team to ensure safe and effective running of both ward area and Unit on a daily basis. 

In addition,

The appropriate candidate would need to hold a valid APLS certificate or you would need to be willing to undertake the course within 6 months of appointment. Ideally you will hold a qualification in Children’s Critical Care or equivalent course and must have experience of working within a PICU / Critical Care environment.
