Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to lead our Acute Medicine pharmacy clinical service at the Queens Hospital Burton. In this role the post holder will lead and develop the clinical pharmacy provision to the Emergency Department and admissions units at the Queens Hospital Burton, Sir Robert Peel Hospital and Samuel Johnson Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to cope with the pace and demands that a busy acute medicine service presents. This role will allow you to build both clinical and management skills. You will gain experience of service development and implementation to improve the service offered to our patients.

Communication and Relationship

Essential criteria
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skillls. Able to articulate information to healthcare staff
  • Ability to influence senior and junior healthcare staff e.g. therapeutic decisions
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
Desirable criteria
  • Training in Leadership skills

Knowledge, training,experience

Essential criteria
  • MPharm plus pre-reg training
  • Post graduate diploma in Clinical Pahramcy or equivalent
  • Demonstrable post-registration hospital practice (inc specialist clinical practice)
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Independant Prescriber qualification
  • Experience in admissions areas

Planning and Organisation

Essential criteria
  • Experience of coordination of pharmacy services
  • Experience of Line Management
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of project management or service development

  • Provides safe, effective and timely service to patients, able to apply knowledge to patient care
