Job overview

The post holder will be working with patients who have undergone or about to undergo stoma surgery. You will be supporting them pre and post operatively both in a clinic and community setting.

You will be responsible for the assessment, planning and monitoring of care packages that will meet the needs of the patients in your care. You will be engaged in an education program for trust staff and work with community teams to ensure care delivery is of a high standard.

You will work with consultants, GPs and AHPs to arrange the most suitable care plan for the patient and address any issues that may arise due to surgical intervention. You will be responsible for appropriate escalation of conditions appropriately with support from team members.

Main duties of the job

Derby Stoma Care Department is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Stoma Nurse to work within the Royal Derby Hospital and Southern Derbyshire community.

We are a progressive forward thinking department with a positive approach at meeting and delivering the current challenges of the stoma patients within the whole local healthcare system.

We are looking for a hard-working Nurse with a focus on high quality, holistic patient centred care to join our team. The successful candidate will ideally have a sound knowledge of stoma care including treatments, a surgical background and community experience will be hugely beneficial.

Excellent communication skills with a flexible and reliable approach to work and an ability to collaboratively work with others is essential.

Car driver and owner is essential to fulfil the role .
