Derby Private Health will be opening a Private Patients Theatre in early 2022. This will allow Surgeons and Radiologists to carry out more complex procedures in a dedicated, private suite.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Derby Private Health’s new multi-specialty theatre for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Theatre Lead who has the ability to demonstrate excellent clinical leadership and interpersonal skills supported by professional knowledge. 

We are looking for someone who has demonstrable clinical theatre experience at a senior level to develop Derby Private Health’s theatre within a transforming Business Unit.

You will be required to have a flexible approach to working hours, and the ability to facilitate on-going development of your theatre team.  The development of good working partnership across all theatres and the management team is essential to this role.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the planning and improving of efficiency and effectiveness, to support the delivery of safe quality care to the patient’s journey.

The successful candidate will predominantly be based in the new, dedicated operating theatre for Derby Private Health, as well as supporting our other theatres across the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. 

You will be working across a variety of areas of medical specialties, including:

  • Trauma & Orthopaedic (T&O)
  • Surgical Theatres
  • Recovery Unit
  • Gynaecology Theatres
  • Paediatric Theatres
  • Ophthalmic Day case
  • General Surgery Day Case
  • Urology Day Case
  • Hand Day Case
  • Robotic Surgery in numerous specialities

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate surgical /anaesthetic/recovery care in a safe caring environment in which to meet the patient’s needs, maintaining their dignity throughout the total episode of care. Provide individualised care, acting as the patient’s advocate in all matters relating to care given in a multidisciplinary environment within agreed policies and procedures.

To co-ordinate, organise and take full responsibility and accountability for the daily management and organisation of  the theatre, this involves managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities including staff management.
