Job overview
An opportunity has arisen to take on a 12 month secondment working as part of our established Band 6 respiratory rotation. You will be starting within the ED/MAU department but you will work with other members of the rotation in regards to the respiratory teaching, respiratory newsletter and service development.
This is a great opportunity to develop clinical skills as well as gaining exposure to more man management responsibilities.
We are looking for a passionate, motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist who shares our values to deliver exceptional patient care to join our well established band 6 respiratory rotation.
If you are a physiotherapist with a broad range of rotational experience with a keen interest in respiratory physiotherapy then we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will start in the ED/MAU rotation and rotate after 9 months to a new area. The current rotations cover
- Intensive care, HDU and maxillo-facial surgery.
- A&E and the Medical Assessment Unit.
- Respiratory Medicine, including our respiratory wards and HDU's.
- Community impACT+ (including respiratory outpatient clinics and home visits)
- Community impACT+ (including pulmonary rehabilitation)
You will carry a caseload of patients in each area with a variety of respiratory conditions delivering a high standard of physiotherapy assessment and treatment.
You will support and supervise band 5 colleagues, therapy assistants and students.
You will need to be able to drive and have access to a car to accommodate the community rotations.
You will be required to take part in our emergency on call rota and 7 day weekend respiratory cover which will involve working at weekends with days off in the week.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Physiotherapy degree/diploma
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of CPD and attendance at recent relevant courses
- Car driver
Desirable criteria
- Member of the ACPRC
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience of working in a acute hospital at band 5 level with a broad range of rotational experience including core rotations
- Experience of working on ITU/HDU and within respiratory medicine
- Participation on the oncall rota and weekend working
- Contributing to the teaching/education of less experienced staff, students or assistants
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrable experience at band 6 level
- Involvement in clinical audit, research/quality improvement
- Clinical educator
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- Evidence of respiratory assessment and treatment skills with a range of respiratory conditions (i.e chronic disease, ITU post surgical, NMD patients)
- Evidence of the use of specialist treatment approaches/adjuncts (i.e ACBT, clearway, suctioning, PR etc)
- Ability to prioritise, delegate and organise/manage a caseload
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of working in the community respiratory setting (i.e PR, clinics)
Behaviour and Communication
Essential criteria
- Evidence of motivation, flexible and desire to develop
- Evidence of excellent communication skills/team working with patients/carers/MDT
