Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; 

This is an appointment for a Clinical ResearchTrust Fellow in Anesthetics to commence as soon as possible. This is a service post for 1 year with duties at the Royal Derby Hospital. .

The appointee will be expected to support the academic activities of the anaesthesia research department and also to support the service needs of the specialty by participating in the out of hours ICU middle grade rota. One day per week will be spent in theatre on anaesthesia duties to maintain clinical practice.

The anaesthetic department has close ties with the MRC research centre based in the University of Nottingham on the Royal Derby Hospital site. Fellows will be expected to manage and run their own preclinical and clinical studies relevant to the practice of perioperative medicine, utilizing these links. You will help in the day to day management of the clinical physiology laboratory, as well as also undertaking in-patient clinical work at Royal Derby Hospital.

The Royal Derby Hospital Anaesthetics department has recently become the first in the region, and just the 20th nationwide, to obtain Anaesthetic Clinical Services Accreditation (ACSA) from the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA). As part of the process, the Trust was required to demonstrate to the RCoA that it could meet all of the 155 quality standards tested.  Following a detailed assessment  the department has received this accreditation and can now offer evidence that it provides quality care in theatres that is among the best nationwide.
