Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; 


University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) is seeking to appoint a substantive Specialty Doctor to work with a committed team in our UHDB Heartcentre at the Queens Hospital, Burton site. This combined department serves one of the largest non-surgical cardiology populations in the country.

Applicants must have completed a minimum of four years full time post graduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) of which at least two will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in the relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent specialty clinical experience and competencies.

A strong commitment from the appointee to the Department and involvement with research activities is expected. The successful applicant will be expected to work as part of a wider team and will be required to contribute to the ongoing development of the UHDB Heartcentre based at the Queens Hospital, Burton site.

It is essential that applicants hold an MBBS qualification or equivalent and applicants must be in possession of full GMC Registration and hold a licence to practice.

This is an ideal opportunity for a doctor interested in a career in cardiology as there will be significant exposure to practical cardiological investigations and procedures.

Salary scale is MC46. Whole time appointment with a work commitment of 10 basic PAs (i.e. 40 hours) and 1.5 additional PAs (APAs).  The current rota is a 1 in 9 full shift.

The post offers the opportunity to live in an area of outstanding natural beauty within the National Forest area and the Peak District National Park is also within close vicinity.   Visits can be arranged for candidates in order to appreciate the quality of life our Hospital and the surrounding area can offer including:
