Job overview
We are looking for a friendly, confident person to work in our busy hospital switchboard. This vacancy is part of a 6 week rolling rota with some early, late and weekend shifts. Staff may be asked, where possible, to participate in the covering of holidays and sickness. A copy of the shift pattern is attached.
The work is varied and interesting; it demands competency, initiative and awareness. Good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and a flexible approach to working hours are all essential in order to meet the needs of the department. Previous switchboard experience would be an advantage, but full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
- Answering incoming calls from internal and external sources.
- Deal with paging system.
- Deal with emergency calls
- complete admin duties necessary to the role.
- Action any system alarms
